Colonization acquired particular scope as a result of the Stolypin reform - allotting landless peasants (mainly from Ukraine and Russia) with free lands in Siberia. Ukrainians settled mainly near this railway, mainly in villages, and were engaged in agriculture and livestock raising. In the late 20s - early 30s of the XX century, in connection with dispossession and collectivization, the regions of the republic were replenished with Ukrainian families, among whom were not only the so-called kulaks, but also middle peasants, as well as many intelligentsia, deprived of all rights by the communists and evicted to Kazakhstan. In 1920, a village council was formed in the Buzulin farm and began to be called Ukrainian, since most of the residents were immigrants from Ukraine.
