Îïèñàíèå: c/n 6S/729058 Built in 1944 as a standard single seat LF.VIIIc. Diverted to Vickers and converted into the prototype two-seat Spitfire Trainer, now designated as the Type 502 Spitfire Tr.8. She first flew in this form during September 1946 and operated for Vickers until 1952, during which time she underwent RAF handling trials, carried out demonstration flights and took part in air races. Stored from 1952 until 1956, she then went to Viv Bellamy and the Hampshire Aero Club at Eastleigh, where she took part in several cross-country air races including the 1961 King’s Cup. It was sold to John Fairey in 1963 and famously operated in an overall yellow colour scheme before being sold on in September 1976. She suffered a wheels-up landing at Coventry during 1978 and was repainted in military markings during her restoration. She moved to the USA in 1983 and finally flew again in 1987. Between 1993 and 2007 she was on static display at a museum in Tillamook, Oregon, before returning to the UK in 2007. After further restoration she flew again in March 2016 and is now operated by the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar giving passenger flights. On this occasion she was operating ‘away from home’.
