Îïèñàíèå: c/n CBAF.8342 Built at Castle Bromwich and delivered to the RAF as ML255 in April 1944. Flew with 127, 313, 118 and 441 squadrons before being transferred to the South African Air Force with the serial 5563. It arrived at Cape Town in November 1948 and served until damaged in a collision at Ysterplaat, after which it was sold off as scrap sometime during 1954. It remained in the scrapyard until recovered by the South African Air Force Museum during 1977, although by now it was only a forward fuselage. It was stored at Snake Valley until swapped with the Museo do Ar for Bristol Beaufighter ‘RD220’. It was rebuilt at Snake Valley by Atlas Aircraft, using parts from similarly recovered Spitfires 5503 and 5362, and then shipped to Portugal where it has been on display since 1989. It is painted as ‘MR-Z’ and has recently been slightly modified in an attempt to represent a Mk.V. Museo do Ar, Sintra, Portugal. 20th September 2022
