Îïèñàíèå: c/n K.65 This lovely aeroplane is the only airworthy Vega Gull and she has an interesting history. Built in 1937, she took part in that years King’s Cup air race and completed the course to finish 6th. In March 1938 she was sold to the Netherlands and became PH-ATH to a private owner. Operated from Twenthe airfield until the German occupation in May 1940, she was then stored ‘off-airport’ and initially remained in private ownership, but was finally impounded by German forces in May 1941. Believed to be of use, she was impressed to Luftwaffe service and operated as ‘KE+CW’ before being sold to neutral Sweden during 1942. She was given the temporary German civil registration ‘D-IXWD’ for the ferry flight, and then joined the Swedish civil register as SE-ALA. She returned to the UK in 1987 and took up her original marks as ‘G-AEZJ’, initially owned by Richard Goode and Clive Wilson. Now owned by Comanche Warbirds, she is seen in Hangar 2 (South) at Duxford Airfield, Cambridgeshire, UK 12th September 2022
