Îïèñàíèå: Based on a system originally designed for Iran in 1974, the Tracked Rapier was later developed as mobile protection for British Army Chieftain tanks. It combined the proven Rapier surface to air missile system with a modified M548 tracked cargo carrier, itself a variant of the M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier. Operated by Royal Artillery air defence regiments from 1981, the system was finally retired in the early 1990’s and has since been replaced by the Starstreak missile system.
