Îïèñàíèå: c/n unknown Built in 1953 as a Shackelton MR.2 for the Royal Air Force as WL795. Served with 38, 204, 205, 210 and 269 Squadrons, before being converted to an AEW.3. Unofficially named “Rosalie” (after the little-known Magic Roundabout character) she then flew with 8 Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth until retired in November 1981. She was flown to RAF St Mawgan for battle damage repair training and allocated the maintenance serial 8753M for that purpose. Luckily no training took place and in the winter of 1988 a restoration began, returning her to full MR.2 standard and a genuine 38 Squadron colour scheme. She was then put on display at the station’s main gate. The restoration was largely carried out by members of the Cornwall Aviation Society, who also collected several MR.2 components from RAF Lossiemouth to aid the ‘re-conversion’. Sold off in December 2015, she was moved to the main airfield site and is now waiting re-assembly halfway between the museum and the Replica Aircraft Fabricators facility. Newquay Airport, Cornwall, UK. 27th July 2022
