Îïèñàíèå: OK, I’m no expert on artillery so what follows is a logical ‘best guess’. If anyone knows better, please let me know! I believe this gun would have been built as a BL 8-inch howitzer, maybe a Mark VII or VIII, and almost certainly saw action during WW1. At the beginning of WW2 it was modified to a longer range 7.2-inch gun and would also have been fitted with rubber tyred wheels of a smaller diameter. Now on display as a WW1 relic and labelled as a British 8-inch howitzer, it has been fitted with replica wheels to represent those it would have had during WW1. The barrel, however, remains in WW2 era 7.2-inch condition. Passchendaele Museum Zonnebeke, Belgium 14th July 2022
