Îïèñàíèå: The USSR-1 was a hydrogen-filled high-altitude balloon designed for research of Earth’s stratosphere. On 30th September 1933 it reached 60,699ft, a world altitude record. It was later modified as the USSR-1 Bis and reached 52,000ft before an unplanned release of hydrogen caused a rapid descent, luckily without loss of life among the three crew. The original gondola is generally believed to be on display in the Central Air Force Museum at Monino, Russia, however it is vaguely possible that this exhibit is itself the original, or that the two exhibits share original components combined with replica parts. Whatever its history, it has been with the museum since at least 1976 and is on display in the Spaceflight Hall (Hall 11) at the Mus'ee de l'air et de l'espace. Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France. 12th July 2022
