Îïèñàíèå: c/n 01 The Leduc 0.22 was intended from the outset as a mixed-power interceptor, powered by both turbojet and ramjet engines. The prototype first flew on 26th December 1956 (who does this sort of thing on Boxing day??) using just the turbojet, with the ramjet first being fired in May 1957. The maximum speed reached was Mach 1.15 in December 1957, but before this could be increased further the aircraft was damaged by a take-off fire. It had not flown again when the project was cancelled in February 1958 due to military budget issues. The unfinished second prototype had already been scrapped, whilst the first prototype was transported by road from Istres to a new Leduc factory at Azerailles, near Baccarat. It remained there until donated to the National collection by the Leduc family in 1979. It is on display in the fascinating Prototypes Hall (Hall 7) at the Mus'ee de l'air et de l'espace. Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France. 12th July 2022
