Îïèñàíèå: As displayed, the full designation of this Fokker D.VII reads “Fok.DVII F (Alb.) 6796/18”. The ‘F’ designates that the machine was powered by a 230hp BMW IIIa engine, instead of the usual 180hp Mercedes D.IIIa. The ‘F’ was important as it referred to the Fliegerbenzin fuel required by this specific engine type. The ‘Alb.’ shows it was produced by the Albatros Flugzeugwerke in Johannisthal, Berlin. This combination was rare, as very few BMW engines were supplied to the Albatros factory for D.VII production. Beautifully restored in overall lozenge, it is on display in the Great War Hall at the Mus'ee de l'air et de l'espace. Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France. 12th July 2022
