Îïèñàíèå: The La France was a French Army airship which first flew in August 1884. Designed by Charles Renard and Arthur Krebs, the 100ft gondola hung under a 170ft long balloon with a volume of 66,000 cubic-ft. Electrically powered by zinc-chlorine flow batteries, it could reach nearly 15mph and had a range of 7.6 miles. Hangar ‘Y’ at Chalais-Meudon, where the La France was built, still survives and is one of the few remaining airship hangars in Europe. The seemingly enormous airships gondola, complete with propellor and rudder, has also survived and is on display in the Pioneers Hall at the Mus'ee de l'air et de l'espace. Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France. 12th July 2022
