Meanwhile two urgent tasks are trying to prevent and prepare for the impacts of global warming. Nearly every building shown on the card may be at risk of flooding. In May 2019 Joanne McCartney warned of another danger facing Londoners. “Today marks a major move forward in tackling the capital’s toxic air, which contributes to the early deaths of almost 10,000 Londoners per year and stunts children’s lungs. “Toxic air is nothing less than a public health emergency and requires urgent and radical action. “But City Hall is not only introducing the ULEZ, (ultra low emissions zone) but also bringing in low emission bus zones and moving to zero emission taxis."
