Описание: Photos of hospital staff on the wall near North Middlesex Hospital main entrance. London is a European and a world city. "Stop the World – I Want to Get Off - is an understandable although impractical daydream. On March 2019 author and journalist James Meek published : "Dreams of Leaving and Remaining", about Britain leaving (Brexit) or remaining in the EU (European Union). He suggests the debate can be seen as two competing English myths. One is the myth of St George and the dragon. With the EU cast in the role of the nasty dragon which must be slain. The other myth is of Robin Hood - the egalitarian outlaw and his friends who live free lives under the greenwood trees; and who confiscate the ill-gotten wealth of the rich minority and redistribute it to deserving ordinary folk. How is this connected with Britain's National Health Service (NHS)? James Meek agrees with others who see: "the need for higher spending on the NHS as the only place where Leavers and Remainers meet in political desires." "The NHS", Meek says, is Britain’s great Robin Hood project, the taking from the rich (that is, taxing people according to how much they earn, with the rich giving most) to give to the poor (providing healthcare to everyone whether they can afford it or not). _______________________________________
