Описание: 16 February 2019. Lordship Lane, Tottenham, London N17. Despite the name, it's not a castle, but a 16th Century Tudor Manor House with a fascinating history. Bruce Castle os listed Grade I. The building and the adjacent park is named after the Scots Bruce (Brus) family who formerly owned this land. It was partly rebuilt in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. It's now a local museum celebrating the history of the area. Also showing the connection with Sir Rowland Hill, and the history of the Royal Mail. Bruce Castle houses the archives of the London Borough of Haringey. Since 1892 the grounds have been a public park, Bruce Castle Park - Tottenham's oldest. ____________________________ § I excerpted the information above from Wikipedia - accessed 16 March 2019.
