Описание: My screengrab from a YouTube video is posted as a review and recommendation for the talk given by Professor Marcus Rediker at the Quakers' Abington Monthly Meeting (AMM) on 12 October 2017. The talk is in five short parts, but if you click on this link to Part 1 they should play in sequence. (You can also pause or stop the playback, or watch separate instalments. Or download them.) Another video - also in Abington - records the ceremony in 2018 when the local Quaker community unveiled a grave marker commemorating Sarah and Benjamin Lay. It included a contribution from Avis Wanda McClinton in the graveyard, by the new marker. As well as acknowledging the work of Benjamin Lay, she spoke of the continuing problem of racism, especially affecting African Americans. The video ends with a brief reading by Benjamin Lloyd in the nearby Quaker meeting house, of an extract from Benjamin Lay's book: "All Slave-keepers that keep the Innocent in Bondage, Apostates". ______________________________________ § Marcus Rediker's most recent books are published in the UK by Verso Books § Link to Marcus Rediker's website.
