Описание: 13 June 2018. In Chesnuts Park Tottenham, near St Ann's Road. Whenever I'm near the park I try to make time to visit Ann Carrington's sculpture. The idea was inspired by a tale of 'The Skeleton Horse of High Cross'. "The use of discarded, found and multiples of objects is a fundamental element of Carrington’s art." Ann Carrington makes surprising, intriguing and often beautiful art from old junk. Paul Smith puts this in more elevated Artspeak: "She specialises in repurposing everyday objects and transforming them into grand, impressive artworks that point to broader cultural peculiarities." "The use of discarded, found and multiples of objects is a fundamental element of Carrington’s art. Knives and forks, barbed wire, pins and paintbrushes come with their own readymade histories and associations which can be unravelled and analysed if rearranged, distorted or realigned to give them new meaning as sculpture. Breathing extraordinary new life into every day, ordinary items, the exhibition will feature feather headdresses made from coat hangers, floral displays from silver spoons and butterflies with artist’s palettes for wings. A schooner sailing vessel has been meticulously woven from colossal quantities of pearl necklaces. Sights that may seem strange and peculiar become everyday occurrences in the subversive world of Ann Carrington." (Source : Paul Smith quoted on Ann Carrington's website page: Pom Pom Pompadour. Accessed 15 June 2018.) _________________________________ § Link for largest size photo and to view each component of Ann Carrington's Skeleton Horse sculpture. § Click this link to find out more about the horse and about the artist Ann Carrington. § Wikipedia entry for High Cross, Tottenham. § Some "repurposing" in New York. Video of the making of Manhattan Mettle. § Ann Carrington's Galleons strung with pearls and sailing on a sea of pearls. (Which in the photos looked to me, a bit like spaghetti.) § Perhaps not to everyone's taste, but since I watched Mike Leigh's film Mr Turner I've been thinking of revisiting Margate after many years. One reason, to see Ann Carrington's sculpture named after Mrs Booth, his landlady who became his lover. § With Google Maps: Street View; and a panorama by Guisepe Luisi.
