фото: Ball & Hall

Описание: 5 July 2018. Martin Ball (left) and Dave Hall discussing the interminably slow progress of Haringey Council's repairs to the Law Centre wall cladding and other problems. Dave and his brother Andy run the fruit and vegetable stall in Holcombe Market, Tottenham. One end of this short section of road is "regenerated". Haringey Council's Propaganda Unit is quick to boast about it. The rest was left to moulder. ___________________________ § Link to article about the Hall family business by Sushila Barton in Seventh Sister website, April 2016. It has some nice photos and an interview with Dave Hall. Note: Sushila Barton mentions free parking which is no longer available. (I once unsuccessfully proposed that the first 30 minutes parking should be free.) Nor is it accurate when Sushila Barton writes: "The area has defiantly resisted gentrification over the years". What many people are currently resisting is unconstrained property development which demolishes existing homes and businesses to replace them with the usual anytown towers. Which are then sold or rented at prices which exclude and displace lower income people - especially from black and minority communities. In my view, the so-called regeneration plans of the previous Haringey Council leaders (and members of their senior staff) showed contempt for established businesses and for local families.
