Описание: in 2015/16 an attempt was made by Haringey Council Regeneration staff to improve Brook Street. Part of the scheme was to commemorate the burial ground underneath this area opposite Brook Street Chapel. The wording on the gold-turning-green stone above is almost unreadable. This was the information given in a page on Haringey's website. "York stone memorial to mark the consecrated burial ground beneath it. The memorial will celebrate the lives of 53 local people of all ages who are buried there, some coming from families that lived in the cottages that once lined Brook Street. The Brook Street burial ground allowed a decent burial for those in poverty." On the same Council webpage, Haringey staff confidently posted that: "The improvements to Brook Street will create an attractive and safe space for the local community to use. The project will be completed in 2016. Both statements were untrue. The illustration on Haringey webpage was also misleading. It is partly a photograph. Added to it are what appear to be photos of people pasted-in from elsewhere. ("Unspecified public life".>i> Please see below Plus images of trees in full leaf. Scroll down to see the fiction; and then the reality in March 2019. ___________________________________ § “But these guys – all these people in the planning, architect and landscape, whatever, profession – they are very very interested in people. And you can see that whenever they make any project whatsoever. It is crawling with happy people who are walking in all directions, seemingly aimlessly. We call it ‘unspecified public life’. And it doesn’t depend on if it’s on the north side or the south side; or is on Greenland, or it’s in Arabic countries. It’s the same story all over. That all the projects are full of happy people. Showing that the purpose of doing all this is to make people happy at ground level.” — Jan Gehl in a talk on "Cities for People". Video by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
