фото: Painted Junction Box # 1

Описание: Three angles on an electrical junction box near the Roebuck pub. Also by Morganic. (mORGANICo?) This one is labelled "Canterbury Tales". (It has 2013 painted on it.) Canterbury Tales? We're in a historic part of the London Borough of Southwark, a walk from Talbot Yard, the site of the medieval Tabard Inn. As well as renowned for all sorts of lawlessness at the time, the Inn was also a starting point for Christian pilgrims journeying to the tomb of Archbishop Thomas Becket, (murdered 1170) in Canterbury Cathedral some 53 miles (85 km) away. Showing the pilgrims gathered round a table, the junction box artist (artists?) followed a woodcut used in the William Caxton edition of the Tales published 1484. (Source: Wikipedia accessed 20 February 2018.) As for the building, I may be wrong, but I'd guess it may be the beautiful Southwark Cathedral, close to London Bridge and the River Thames. Which would also explain the water flowing across and around the box. (Though I've never seen the river blue.)
