Описание: I've no idea if the people or person who dumped this trash on the street would have walked or maybe driven to the Reuse & Recycling Centre had it been open. In other words, I'm not assuming cause and effect - that this rubbish pile was dumped because the Reuse and Recycling Centre closed on 23 October 2017 Nor do I dismiss the possibility that the apparent rise in street dumping may be temporary. And of course, there are other possible factors. The closure comes just after Haringey Council stopped it's free collection of bulky waste from residents' homes. Also raising some waste collection charges. Haringey has promised to monitor the impact of the closure of the Reuse and Recycling Centre for six weeks. Though what sort of "monitoring" it hadn't yet said when I posted Martin Ball's photos taken on 29 October. Perhaps the borough's political "Leaders" may sit and discuss these issues in their "Cabinet" and perhaps in the closed secret pre-cabinet meetings. Alternatively they might try genchi genbutsu - a Japanese management phrase meaning going and seeing the actual thing with your own eyes at the actual place. A trip round some regular dumping spots might help. Including making time to talk to neighbours and passers-by. But I suspect Haringey's current political leaders are unlikely to do that. They seem uninterested in learning. And especially admitting they might be wrong or even partly wrong. And why should they? They have a large publicly funded propaganda unit - "Comms" - to announce why they had no alternative because of Government cuts. And that in any case, there are plenty of other Centres in nearby boroughs as well as one in the west of Haringey. __________________________ § Photo by Martin Ball.
