Описание: Victor Noel Newcomb registered as a Conscientious objector in Britain in 1939. He served in the forces in Bomb Disposal in Britain and in Field Ambulance with the Army Medical Corps in North West Europe and Palestine, including the Normandy Landings on 6 June 1944. The Imperial War Museum (IWM) has an oral history collection and Victor Newcomb was one of the people interviewed. You can listen to audio files of the interviews using this link. _________________________ § Link to the Imperial War Museums sound collections. Its website describes this as: . . . "the largest oral history collection of its type in the world, with contributions from both service personnel and non-combatants as well as significant holdings of speeches, sound effects, broadcasts, poetry and music". § Wikipedia page about Conscientious objectors. "A conscientious objector is an 'individual who has claimed the right to refuse to perform military service' on the grounds of freedom of thought, conscience, or religion." § My photos taken at the Imperial War Museum are in a photo album here. They will be reposted in order of date taken.
