Описание: On Monday 3 July 2017 there was a demonstration outside Haringey Civic Centre in Wood Green, London N22. It was a cross-party initiative, called to protest against a huge scheme called the Haringey Development Vehicle (HDV). This involves our council going into "partnership" with the international corporation: Lendlease. The plans would mean demolishing thousands of homes and businesses across a huge area of Tottenham and Wood Green. Some people asked me why Labour councillors were not there marching and demonstrating. Banging pans and raising their voices. Well, some were there. They were inside the Council chamber asking detailed questions and challenging Cllr Claire Kober, Haringey Council "Leader" and members of her so-called "cabinet". Other Labour councillors may agree with the HDV. Scared? Others, who also oppose the HDV may be scared to say so. The letter above shows why. In the London Borough of Haringey we have a local political Party with a system of unsecret police to summon, investigate, warn and punish elected councillors who think for themselves; who have principles; and who take the smallest steps out of line. Labour councillors know it's unwise to dare question the uneffable wisdom of the Supreme Dear Leader. And that if they do, retribution may follow. Cllr Gideon Bull was elected by the residents of White Hart Lane ward in North Tottenham. But in the rotten borough which I think of as 'Koberville', he is expected to be accountable only to Cllr Kober. She who, it seems, must always be addressed as "Leader" and always obeyed. In our small, backward, authoritarian Council, loyalty to a closed-minded, self-important Dear Leader is everything. Not loyalty to the Party. And certainly not loyalty to Haringey residents who vote for councillors and pay the Council Tax which funds their salaries. Some of whom may be personally harmed by the Haringey Development Vehicle. And all of whom may suffer a financial hit if the HDV scheme turns sour, loses money, or collapses. _____________________________________ N.B.
