Описание: A friend of ours served in the U.S. army during the Vietnam War. We were talking with him about how the truth of events is often known to a few insiders who speak out, but aren't listened to. Sometimes it's only a few who speak; although sometimes not so few. He strongly recommended this book by Neil Sheehan. Which went on my ever-expanding wish-list. The Big Green bookshop - an independent shop in Wood Green - mostly sells new books. But offers customers the service: finding out-of-print or hard to get books. Bright Shining Lie isn't hard to get. Nor is it out of print. Probably it's never been either. (Especially after the film was made.) Reading it wasn't urgent in any way. I always have pile of books to get around to. Eventually I'd come across it in a second-hand bookshop. Then I asked Big Green Books and they found me a reasonably-priced second-hand copy in good condition. As ever, my thanks to them. ____________________________ § Big Green Bookshop: Use 'em or lose 'em. § Wikipedia entry about the film of Bright Shining Lie. It was made-for-TV and is on YouTube.
