Описание: Summary 13 October 2016 • On 3 June 2015 I reported two almost unreadable streetname signs to Haringey Council. I received a reply the same day telling me that signs were ordered and would be replaced. • I've checked from time to time; no new signs. The photos on this page are from 27 September 2016. • I checked again on the evening of 13 October 2016. The original signs are still in place. Detailed Description These street nameplate signs are in Chaplin Road N17 at the junction with Forster Road. Both signs were just about visible up close. But very hard to read if someone is trying to locate the street at night; or in the rain; from a vehicle; or if the person looking has poor eyesight. I copied-in my original report to the three Bruce Grove ward councillors and to Haringey Council senior staff. On 3 June 2015 the “Cabinet” Councillor for the Environment replied and so did the Council’s Neighbourhood Action Team. The latter said that “The name plates have been placed on order and will be replaced as soon as we get a delivery.” I replied to the Action Team member, thanking them and adding some questions and a suggestion. I asked if there was a system for routinely monitoring signs and a rolling programme of renewal as funding was available? Was there was a system whereby staff who walk or drive past and spot such signs can quickly, easily and cheaply pass on this information? (E.g with a smartphone?) I wrote that if Haringey Council was serious about regeneration in Tottenham, then clear, legible street signs would be a sensible part of its plans. Lastly I suggested that new signs here should include the information "Leading to Felixstowe Road", because people must access Chaplin Road to reach Felixstowe Road N17, as this is a no-through-road. A further reply from the Haringey's Neighbourhood Action Teamon 11 June 2015, confirmed that Haringey staff “…monitor the state of the road signs during our routine inspections and we normally only replace them if letters are missing or the sign has been damaged or the letters are faded. It was noted during my last inspection that the signs needed to be replaced and as previously mentioned the signs have been ordered." Also that they would include: .."'Leading to Felixstowe Road N17” to the new nameplates'."
