Описание: An area which used to be called Paddington Basin - referring to the canal - has been renamed "Paddington Central". Presumably by the British Land Company plc the property developers and owners. This part of it is called Sheldon Square. The semi-circle of green in my photo is described on British Land's website as "an attractive terraced amphitheatre". (Accessed 12 September 2016). From the website of Broadgate Estates the management company, I learned that: "Paddington Central is located in the heart of Paddington Waterside, a new mixed use development already established as one of central London's premier business, residential, healthcare and leisure destinations". "We organise a variety of events throughout the year including a summer music programme, activities such as human table football, giant garden games, a weekly farmers market in the summer months and vintage fairs." § Google Street View had (a 360° panorama (photosphere) of the amphitheatre by Mark Lawton shot in 2014. [Link checked April 2020.] Monthly Food Bank Collection In 2016 British Land's website Paddington Central told us about another regular event - a local food bank. (Although see below for another focus in February 2020.) "Everyday large numbers of people go hungry in the UK and food poverty has become an increasing concern in London as poverty increases. The North Paddington FoodBank has been set up to address this hidden hunger and are completely dependent on the goodwill of the local community donating as many non-perishable items as possible. That's where Paddington Central comes in . . . Every second Tuesday of the month we will host a collection for the following items: Milk (UHT or powdered) Sugar (500g) Tinned fruit Rice drinking/hot chocolate Tinned meat and meat stews Tinned fish Tinned vegetables & vegetable stews Tinned fruit Soap Toothpaste Shower gel Deodorant Toilet Paper Coffee Pasta/curry sauces Instant noodles Jam/marmalade Biscuits Instant mashed potato Plum tomatoes Tea Tinned custard Tinned rice pudding" "When you see our team set up in Sheldon Square outside Sainsbury's please give generously as all items will go to a worthwhile cause. The idea is simple - just pop an extra item in your basket when you're shopping for your lunch and pass over to our collection team, you can even hand to our teams at reception in 2 Kingdom Street and 3 Sheldon Square. The North Paddington FoodBank will then distribute to people in the local community." _____________________________________ § Website of the North Paddington Food Bank. § The charity Trussell Trust launched its 50th foodbank on Sunday in Glasgow City Centre.
