фото: Return to Morrison Yard - 11 July 2016 # 1

Описание: Every so often I stroll down an alley just off High Road Tottenham, past the Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB) and into Morrison Yard. If we've had rain I assume the potholes will be full of water. If it's dry I expect some of the drain gullies will be blocked. Nor am I surprised to find a corner with a pile of litter. While somewhere nearby there may be dumped rubbish. Perhaps an old mattress or two. Apart from the CAB, Morrison's Yard is rented by several local businesses. Occasionally I speak to some of their staff who tell me they report problems to Veolia the Council's waste contractors. I don't know if anyone reports the blocked drains or potholes. Haringey Council says it's supporting and regenerating the economy of Tottenham. Unfortunately this support and regeneration seems to consist of Council "leaders" being cosy-cosy with property developers and accepting their sponsorship to pay for flights and hotels to visit Cannes. Also subsiding a few favoured fashionable businesses with substantial sums of public money and/or soft loans and free advertising. Of course I realise there's little or no glamour in fixing potholes and cleaning out drain gullies. Nor in hauling rubbish from a back alley in Tottenham and taking action to prevent re-dumping. Little or no chance of a smugly smiling selfie or a handshake with some VIP. Photoset from 11 July 2017. Morrison Yard and nearby.
