Описание: Variations on the original "Keep Calm and Carry On" posters still appear from time to time. This one was on the door of Crazy Cut, Hair & Beauty, 459 High Rd, London N17 6Q. "Keep Calm and Carry On" is from a Second World War UK Government poster which was printed but not used. The poster was first popularised by Stuart and Mary Manley, co-owners of Barter Books Ltd. in Alnwick, Northumberland. They found one copy of the poster folded in an old book. They displayed the poster and when their customers started asking for copies, had some printed. Zena and I heard about the bookshop by chance. We were in Northumberland on holiday with two friends, and stayed in the very comfortable Stamford Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast. Simon and Karen, the welcoming and helpful couple who ran it recommended a list of places we could visit. Including Barter Books. Which turned out to be rather special. There's a nice story behind how Stuart and Mary met and came to run a bookshop. ______________ § Have I ever been to Crazy Cut? Actually no. For fairly obvious reasons. § 'Alnwick' pronounced Annick. Rhymes with panic. I've no idea why.
