Описание: although the old city of jerusalem felt very much like an "arab" city as i've experienced it in other middle eastern countries, one big difference is the lack of night life. in old damascus, beirut, tunis, or cairo, or pretty much any town in the arab world that i've been, the place comes alive at night when the ungodly heat of the day finally ends. the old city of jerusalem was not like that at all. shops would close right around 8 p.m. and the IDF would move in with the darkness. this shot and the next 5 or so were taken just after 8, when the shops were closing and the soldiers were taking their positions. this shot is where the alley that led to our hotel met king david street, during the day a busy touristy commercial street leading to the jaffa gate.
