Описание: my only shot from my visit to the famous prison. the wall to the right is the edge of the hoa lo prison, aka the "hanoi hilton." the prison was built by the french and used to jail early communist and independence advocates. later when north vietnam became independent the communists used it to house their own undesirables, including captured americans such as john mccain. mccain appeared in one of the pictures of the former inmates, with no notation that he was anyone special. at least that's how it was back in 1999. maybe his various presidential runs have gotten the vietnamese to change the caption. ironically, about half of the former "hanoi hilton" has been knocked down and is not an upscale hotel. (the other half is a museum)
