Описание: the dakhla oasis is part of the "new valley" project; a project in which egypt is diverting nile water from lake nasser into the western desert to make it habitable so that the government can relieve some of the population pressures on the crowded nile valley. without commenting whether i think it's a good or bad idea, it did create a lot of surreal scenes like this one. where the desert abruptly stops and there's a bright green field marking where the land has been irrigated, with no transition between the two.
