: Eco washing machines

: They are equipped with a built-in pump from a bath tub; that is, they can use warm water left in a bath tub after a family used them. In Japan, (1) to use a bath tub is traditional, and most households used to have no shower but a bath only (it has changed a lot in the last few decades, though), (2) no one uses soap in a bath tub (if you did in a public bath, it would be a criminal offence), and accordingly the (warm) water left in a bath tub is still usable for washing clothes, which eliminates the need to heat cold water (usually clean enough to drink) just to wash clothes. Many people use a separate small pump for that purpose, but these machines claim they are equipped with a built-in pump, which works automatically, and so are handy.
