Описание: Myshlevich Liubov Grigoryevna, my grandmother on father's side. A nurse with the First Ukrainian Front. The photo is dated 13 October 1944. Grandma's family resided in the village of Narodichi, Zhitomir Oblast, Ukraine. She is 22 in the picture. Following the victory in Europe, her military hospital was sent to Far East, to join the fight against Japan. There she met my grandpa, a midshipman with the Soviet Far East Navy. Father said that just prior to the war grandma was working in one of Kiev's hospitals as a nurse, probably studying for a doctor. She remembered the first bombing raid on Kiev on 22 June 1941. While others were running down the stairs to get to the shelter, she used the railings to slide down. Luckily, the hospital was never hit during her stay there. An urban tale current then among the personnel explained this by the hospital's form: it presumably resembled the swastika from above. The Narodichi village is now within the Chernobyl Disaster fallout zone. There are only about 2500 persons left there, and you must have a permit to travel there. In the spring 1953, when Stalin died, the grandma's family was rather relieved, considering the butcher's deeds that affected Ukraine and the rest of the country. They said "the moustached one has croaked". They weren't brainwashed like many were then. Мышлевич Любовь Григорьевна - бабушка по отцовской линии. После победы в Европе их отправили воевать с Японией на Дальний Восток, где она и познакомилась с дедушкой - мичманом дальневосточного флота. Кажется, перед самым началом войны бабушка работала в одном из Киевских госпиталей медсестрой. Возможно, училась на врача.
