Описание: Bear and Bison by AUTUMN JOHNSON They were there for years and then one day ... they were gone. Anyone who has been to Pleasanton can tell you that it was tough to miss the almost-life-sized bison and bear statues that stood guard for years on the corner of Bernal and Pleasanton avenues. So where did they go? According to employees at the Amador Dental & Orthodontics, the bear and bison were removed in July 2014 at the request of the new property owners after the building was sold several months ago. Dr. Craig Sjorberg, owner of both the dental office and the unique statues, told Patch that he built the building in 1999 and recently sold it. “An investor from France bought the building and expressed safety concerns over the statues,” Sjorberg said. According to Sjorberg, the new owner asked him to remove not only the statues but the American flag from atop of the building as well. Sjorberg, who calls himself a “staunch American,” says he has looked after the flags for 15 years and offered to continue to do so but the new owner declined. Of the statues, Sjorberg said, “The bear and bison represent our American heritage as they roamed the land. We would see people taking pictures outside with them on a regular basis over the years.” The duo was relocated to Idaho where they are presumably continuing to proudly represent all American fauna in their new home of the “Gem State.” Amador Dental & Orthodontics will remain open, despite the sale of the building.
