фото: Capilla de los Condestables in Burgos Cathedral in Burgos, Spain

Описание: The earthly remains of the fifteenth century constables who bankrolled this chapel now lie beneath the marble sepulchers at lower left. (Talk about donor cultivation!) Smarty pants Tim can read the Spanish at: catedraldeburgos.es/visita-cultural/capillas/capilla-de-l... which is why I can tell you this stuff. The cathedral is a great place to be a tourist. It draws crowds, but not of a June-in-Venice magnitude; the visitor can breathe, stretch, sit, turn around without inadvertently whacking the totes and fanny packs of other sightseers. I waltzed in mid-morning in August without standing in line, ogled the cathedral's interior for an hour or two, lunched agreeably afterward on Burgos' nearby pedestrian streets. Heartily recommended, with two qualifications: * Hunt up a potty before you go inside. I found nothing resembling one inside the cathedral, doubted that staff would appreciate efforts to improvise. * An off-in-the-boonies train station, described in the caption accompanying the Renfe shot elsewhere in this photo set.
