Описание: Postcard of Gottwaldov, published Orbis circa 1951. Actually this is a circa-1938 image since the square on the left with the fountain at its centre shows the first pattern of footpaths around it. However, the Obchodni Dum department store already has its rear extension with ? cafe ? on the roof. This is the only view here which shows that extension with the earlier pattern around the fountain, i.e. from a small time window about 1937-8 The buses are clearly pre-war from the Zlin period. Both buildings carry the Bata name, not that of the post-1948 state-owned Svit enterprise.
