Описание: I purchased this bike for someone to ride around the neighborhood; I did not have in mind converting it to an e-bike. It wasn't getting much use so I acquired a Swytch kit that replaces the front wheel with a motorized 250W wheel and includes a 250WH battery with controller. This model Townie with a three speed rear Nexus hub and a coaster brake plus a front caliper brake is no longer made, presumably because it is too heavy for the modest amount of gearing to assist getting up hills. With a front motor it serves well enough for my purposes when I want to use an e-bike. (by which I mean I have decided I don't need to purchase a purpose-built e-bike). I swapped the gear ring on the back wheel from 19 teeth to 17 to push the top speed slightly higher, but it still maxes out well short of 20 mph which is fine given the basic level of braking it has. The three speed Nexus hub is low maintenance and makes up for lack of shifting nuance it provides. Because the front wheel is doing much of the work now the long chain this bike requires (requiring the purchase of two chains) is not worked to hard and after 1,000 miles I haven't needed to replace it. The electric motor helps to get from a stop to cruising speed quickly which provides most if not all the benefit of having the motor compared to a lighter bike without a motor.
