Îïèñàíèå: The Sretenskaya Church (1891-1895) was built by the architect N. I. Pozdeyev on the site of a 17th-century Church. The facades are made in the Russian style with a characteristic pattern of brick decor, repeating the old Russian forms. In the XVIII century, it was attached to the warm Znamenskaya Church. At the end of the century, when the city was regularly redeveloped, a square was built around the ethic of religious buildings, which occupied an entire block. In 1815, commercial buildings appeared in its place. In 1819, the reconstruction and expansion of Church buildings began: there was a refectory, a new altar, and a second domed Church with a porch decorated with a classical portico. In 1891-1895, the ensemble of churches of the Sretensky parish was again completely rebuilt in the then fashionable Russian style. In 1895, the Znamenskaya chapel and fence were built. At the beginning of our century, nondescript two-story buildings stood around the perimeter of the block, blocking the view of the Church. The fence facing deputatsky lane pleases the eye with the richness of brick decoration, made in the old Russian style with exceptional grace.
