Описание: This is the Buxton Slopes Met Office site, a Climatological Weather Station, where we record daily observations to create long term climate records. This station is one of the oldest weather stations in the UK. It was established by public subscription in the grounds of the nearby Devonshire Royal Hospital and has daily records going back to 1865. It was moved to this site in 1925 and continues to provide daily information to the Met Office, schools, industry and universities. This site is managed and accredited by The Met Office and manned by a group of local volunteers who attend, providing data 365 days a year, to take some 20 readings and observations for use in real time forecasting and to contribute to Long Term Climate records for the UK. Long term records produced by stations like this are invaluable in providing evidence to researchers in many fields, including debates about climate change. Daily records and the weather forecast are displayed in the Buxton Museum, The Tourist Information Office, and online: wow.metoffice.gov.uk/observations/details?site_id=26770277 To read the history of this station: www.buxtonweather.co.uk/metofficeslopes.htm The Buxton Meteorological Station Established in 1865 Met Office The Slopes in Buxton This site is at an altitude of 307 Metres (1007 feet) above sea level Location is: Latitude 53.25796 Longitude -1.91389 High Peak Borough Council
