Описание: You've reached the summit of Kinnoull Hill, 222 metres above sea level. 370 million years ago, the rocks under your feet formed the sides of an active volcano. The cliffs here are alive with ravens, peregrine falcons and other birds. Take time to watch them circling and floating in the thermals. In the spring and summer, they nest in the rocks on the cliff face. Look around and take in the magnificent views on a clear day. Over the rooftops of Perth, you can see the Trossachs to the west. In the north, the Highlands begin. Ben Lawers and Schiehallion, Birnam Hill and Ben Vrackie loom in the distance. Gaze south over the Carse of Gowrie, the Ochil Hills and into Fife. Iron Age people built a fort on Deuchny Hill around two miles east of here. It would have been an ideal spot to scan the horizon for approaching enemies. Much later, the Earl of Kinnoull built the stone table you can see. Here one could take in the view while enjoying a Victorian picnic. See the castle-like tower? Francis, Lord Gray of Kinfauns built it as a folly in the late 1800s. It looked like a ruin even when new. He hoped a tower in this landscape might remind visitors of the Rhine valley in Germany. It stands at the edge of a sheer cliff so be careful if you go exploring. Kinnoull Hill is a hill located partly in Perth and partly in Kinfauns, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinnoull_Hill
